Theblackmap

Theblackmap grew from a thematic lament I composed during a period when gender-based violence touched my immediate circle. The composition and arrangement carry the memory of attempts to escape, the intervention encountered, and the helplessness felt in the face of violence.

In this installation, the lament moves beyond my own story to make visible the lives of other women cut short by violence. The stains accumulating on the surface are traces left by an existence that others sought to extinguish; approaching, touching and listening become forms of encounter. A personal voice opens into a shared visibility and a call to be heard.
